More information about WWII to Cold War Era U.S. Navy Rate Patches – Various Ranks & Specialties

This is a collection of authentic U.S. Navy rating patches, likely spanning from World War II into later conflicts such as the Korean War and Vietnam War. These patches were worn on sailor uniforms to denote both rank and specialty, with distinct chevrons and specialty insignias.

The patches feature the traditional Navy eagle, perched over crossed specialty symbols.

various patches are embroidered on black backgrounds (used on dress blues), while others are on white backgrounds (used on dress whites).

Included specialties appear to represent various roles, such as Boatswain’s Mate (crossed anchors), Yeoman (crossed keys), and other technical ratings.

The red chevrons indicate ranks of Petty Officer Third Class to First Class, while the top left patch with gold chevrons likely denotes a Chief Petty Officer.
