VINTAGE RED HEAD WOODEN SHOE STRETCHER COBBLERS TOOL shelf
This is a vintage Red Head shoe stretcher made by the Rochester Shoe Tree Company in Rochester, NY. I got it at an estate sale. It’s in outstanding vintage condition and makes a marvelous decorative item for a primitive collection. These wooden stretchers were designed to stretch or widen shoes, particularly leather shoes, and could also be used to address issues like bunion bumps. They feature a metal handle that, when turned, expands the wooden form to stretch the shoe. The Red Head brand was a product of the O.A. Miller Co. This particular shoe stretcher is described as a cobbler tool and a potential conversation piece. It's made of wood and metal, with the metal handle used to expand the shoe's width.
